CAMPING! YAY!

Last weekend we went camping to my family's favorite little spot in Kamas called Soapstone. The weather was perfect! The temperature hasn't been that ideal in years. Minus the bugs, (WAY too many mosquitos)we had a good time. I have never been up there when the flowers were this beautiful. Everywhere you looked seemed to be an ocean of yellow and purple from the flowers.

A few of the interesting things from the weekend:

  1. Some dudes' RV burned while he was up there. I'm not sure exactly what happened, but when we came upon the burnt mess it was on a tow truck and barely recognizable. My first thought was...."Where are the bodies? Did they burn the evidence?" But it seems more likely that it was a gas leak or something.

  2. We played the candy-bar game and since Mindi forgot to bring candy bars, she substituted a bag of spinach into the pot. (First- that's just funny) But since part of the game includes having to draw from the center pot when stealing... SOMEONE had to end up with it. Good times.

  3. My Dad seems to fear that he's going to run out of firewood. Difficult to believe by looking at the plethora already piled at his house, but he managed to bring home two more truckloads. Also, my parents enjoyed their first campout with their Trailer! YAY!

  4. Cooper was told he needed to brush his teeth. In passing, I noticed him sitting on a log holding his toothbrush with a laffy taffy wrapper in his hand and his cheeks full of candy. Good intentions?

  5. Beau and I attempted biscuits and gravy for breakfast. Although the biscuits took a lot longer in the dutch oven, I think it was a success given it was our first try.
  6. (This picture makes me laugh so hard. I have no idea what emotion he's trying to express with that face. Any guesses?)

  7. The kids and their "sticks/swords/guns". What is it about kids and having to carry around sticks? I realize they can be used for all kinds of great things (stabbing, poking, hitting, etc...) but I've noticed that all kids seem to grasp the concept that you're supposed to carry one around while camping. This trip added a new rule to the "stick" game. You cannot carry a stick taller than you. For little Lincoln this was especially helpful. The also enjoyed hiking and playing with the bubbles Grandma brought for them.

He is such a cute baby!
