Friday

A HUGE thanks goes out to Jim and Bonnie for an awesome trip to Oregon. We began our trip with Nick, Dani, and the kids as well as Kellie for our “Big” flight. The kids had never been on a plane before so it was a fun experience to share with them. Alex squealed every time we took off and Isaac wanted to close the blind on the windows so he didn’t have to see how far off the ground we were. We landed in Portland very late and picked up our rental cars. Beau and I lucked out to be driving a new Ford Explorer that we grew to really like (except for the mileage we were getting in a V8). We stayed in a city about 2 hours south of Portland called Pacific City. It was beautiful and we loved our view. When we arrived at the condo, it was so late and dark that we couldn’t really see where we were staying, so the next morning when we woke up, it was quite a surprise to see just how close we were to the ocean and how nice our beach was. Our first day there, we enjoyed resting up and spending some time in the water and checking out the tide pools. We learned that the water is about 2 degrees! Our feet froze the second we walked through the water and swimming suits were completely out of the question. However, we did see a seal and lots of cool coral, so the walk through the water was worth it. The rocks were covered with the shells of muscles.

I'm so jelous. The Oregon coast is a favorite of mine and Colby's. So, what about the Goonies tour, did you do it? Maybe one day I'll just pick up and move there, I love it that much. Sounds like you had a great trip (:

Oh yeah had you talked to me before you went to the ocean I could have told you the water is freezing and to take a jacket to the beach even if it is 100 degree weather in Oregon. It's rare to find a warm day at the coast, but still very worth it!

I am so Jealous of your trip! It sounds like you had a great time. The Oregon coast has been at the top of my travel bucket list for awhile, but for some reason it gets pushed back again and again. maybe next year.

Funny. Just a little unknown fact I found out today... One of my BF's from Highschool's sister (Dani) married Beau's brother, Nick. She was blog-roaming and noticed her niece (Evie) and nephews (Isaac & Alex)on your blog. She couldn't figure out how Colby & I new you. Such a small world! Just thought you'd find that interesting!
