We drove down the coast about 70 miles through small towns to Newport. We’ve decided that the state runs their highways through those small towns to boost their economies because there isn’t anything else in them. We went to Oddwater Aquarium and loved the variety of interesting life that we found there. They fed the sea lions while we were there, so we got to see them do lots of fun tricks and learn more about their natural habitats. Beau’s favorite thing was the shark tank. They had a variety of different sharks that you could view as you walked through an all glass enclosed tunnel. It was pretty cool. My favorite thing was the jellyfish that change color. The aquarium promotes local artists and used blown glass art through their aquariums, which made the colors of the fish look more vibrant and definitely made the aquariums more fun to look at. We stopped at Depoe Bay and had some ice cream while we watched the coast guard fly by in a helicopter and then saw their boat come into the “worlds smallest bay.” As we were watching, we saw a seal swimming just beneath the surface and were amazed at their speed in the water.

I love your new side bar pics. The caption with the one where you are behind the shark jaws is hilarious!
Newport! Are you making me homesick or what? I had totally forgotten the glass. That is Oregon to a T!
