So excited… Guess what came in the mail? The Granite Peaks Fall Community Catalog! I was so excited when I saw it come, that I immediately sat down and started flipping through it. It actually took me several pages before I came across something that seemed a little interesting, but don’t fret; I still found plenty of classes worth mentioning.
Hopefully this doesn’t offend anyone. (Fingers crossed) If so, just consider this an advertisement to help motivate you to join in the fun!
Here we go!
Make Up Eyebrows
I realize that I tend to think of abstracts when presented with certain word combinations, but I hope I’m not the only one who read that title and thought the class was about ‘making up your own eyebrows’. This title immediately presented me with a visual of those few individuals who decide to draw their own on. (There’s nothing wrong with that, mind you) What I find so interesting about ‘making up your own eyebrows’ is that they’re rarely positioned in the correct place. Instead when I encounter this, I typically find someone who has ‘made up their own eyebrows’ about an inch or 2 above the normal location, or has extended them to just flow right into their hair line. Example A:
Although I can see this class being beneficial in regards to applying make-up, I’m hoping that in the future they choose a better name to prevent the confusion of what they plan to accomplish. Or maybe a visual would be helpful.
Make Your Own Comic Strip
Yes, this is actually a class. I don’t know why you would need a class to do this, and I’m pretty sure that each of us has done this every year of their early life through grade school, but here it is. Perhaps there’s a Charles Shulz (Peanuts) among us just waiting to be found?
Flying Tiger Self Defense
(Is this like the Tiger on Kung-Fu Panda? Because if so, I’m in!)
Apparently it’s not. Why would you call your class flying tigers, if you don’t plan on flying around? HELLO!? Instead it’s a class designed to sort out differences through communication. I’d prefer the flying…
Paganism, Witchcraft and Wicca
LOL… I remember this one....Harry Potter, that’s all I really have to say. However, if witchcraft enables me to play Quidditch and use floo powder, I’ll give it a whirl.
You Are On The Air
Do you have a strong voice? Is your voice ready for the TV or big screen? (Of course it is. I’m a regular Rod Roddy from Price is Right!)
Voice-overs are hot today. (Really? Then why aren’t they on TV with the rest of the ‘beautiful people’?)
Yes, fencing, blue dart (I mean balloon art) and Ghostbusters are still in the catalog, but since they’ve already been mentioned, I left them out.
