What is the deal with all of the bad driving lately? I don’t know if I’m just now paying more attention or if the construction along I-15 is bringing out the worst in people. Yesterday I had 4 encounters. Yes 4! I’ll only mention 2 because they’re the most extreme. ☺
Encounter 1
While driving to work (southbound I-15) yesterday, traffic began slowing around 7800 South because of the construction in the right lanes. Since I travel all the way to Draper, I moved over to the fast lane to bypass some of it. Traffic was fairly steady, but not too bad, so as I’m making my way along, I had slowed down slightly (so had everyone else, mind you). The next car in front of me was probably 5-6 car lengths away and I was still doing about 65-70, however, since we’re in a construction zone, and crazy people frequently opt to pull out from a dead stop into the fast lane, I was being cautious. Apparently the punk behind me was late or impatient and decided to FLY past me in his lame WRX, by driving partly in the car pool lane, so that he could get one car length ahead before coming to a complete stop. What is the deal! I have seen this more and more often and I just don’t understand the rush to endanger everyone else on the road.
Encounter 2
Beau and I were driving together eastbound on 1700 South and I-215. We were stopped at the light right before traveling under 215. The cars traveling westbound had a green light, so the traffic as turning left onto the freeway. Well…. Their light ended, and our light turned green, so we began traveling eastbound through the intersection. This crazy guy on his cell phone wasn’t paying attention and ran the red light turning left onto the freeway and almost hit us. He was OBLIVIOUS! In fact, we weren’t the first car through the intersection. We were the second car, so he turned left in-between the first car and us. We had to slam on our brakes so we didn’t hit him, and all the while, I’m thinking… “WHOA.. everyone needs to take a chill pill and regroup before getting in their cars.”
So… All in all, maybe I’m just getting old and starting to notice the whippersnappers that drive dangerously. Am I the only one?

I am totally there with you. I have noticed that people's driving has gotten worse. I had a guy merge into my lane on the freeway while I was next to him. He didn't even seem to care that he almost caused a wreck on I-15.
NO you aren't the only one. I had an encounter yesterday also. Some hoser was turning right onto 106th just in front of the mall, but decided to take cross all 3 lanes. I literally had to slam on my brakes and what was in my backseat was now on my dashboard. I blare on my horn and he gives ME the bird. I gave him the stink eye, because I am too uncoordinated to give him the bird.
