Cabo San Lucas, MEXICO 2010!

Hello All. I have SO much to catch everyone up on and so many pictures, so I'm going to do it in a couple of posts. First things first... Sunny Mexico! Beau and I had the most amazing time in Cabo. We couldn't have asked for better weather or accommodations so thank you, thank you to Jim and Bonnie for another awesome family trip. Everything was wonderful!! I won't bore you with recapturing it moment by moment, but we had a wonderful time. We stayed at a hotel called Villa del Palmer. It had an ocean front view that we just couldn't stop enjoying. Most people recognize Cabo by the rock arches in the bay. We could see them (except when the stupid cruise ship was in port) and they were really very beautiful.

Some of the highlights....

Tide

While we were in Mexico, we had great weather, but the hurricanes that are happening in the gulf area were seriously messing with the tide. It was MASSIVE and left me a little hesitant about enjoying the ocean. I videotaped part of it so that you could see, unfortunately, we're having computer issues, and I can't locate most my pictures from the trip, and I definitely can't find the video. Anyway, the water is going nearly to the edge of the resort and one night it was even crashing against the resort walls. Signs were posted everywhere with zero tolerance for allowing people into the water during high tide. That said, it was amazing to watch and left us with a greater appreciation for the power that is in that water.

Michael Jackson

I know, I know... But he was in Mexico. I swear!!!

We had entertainment every night that we could see from our balcony. (Lucky us!) Although Michael Jackson night was our favorite, we got to see a lot of dancing, and some terrible karaoke singing which added to the people watching experiences.

Para sailing

I know.... you're thinking this, right? (just for you, T!)I'M SAILING!!! It was actually a really cool experience, and I recorded some of it... (such a crappy thing that I can't find it). It was actually really serene and very peaceful so if any of you get the chance, give it a whirl. Sorry for the bouncy camera shot. (if I find these pics, I'll definitely add them in)

Large and In Charge

I invested in a LARGE hat. I actually really like them, and no, I'm not 90, but hopefully when I am 90 I'll still have my own skin and I won't look like a crocodile handbag. Gone are the days of youth and amazing skin that looks wonderful no matter how much we abuse it. Instead, we've decided to grow up and try to be responsible in the sun. So yes, we wore sunblock the entire time, and didn't get burned, hooray!!! As you can see by the pics, I have fair skin. LOVED the hat. It will be traveling with me everywhere I go now. Not only did it cover my face, but my ears, neck, and half of my upper body!! Amazing. I feel like I need to go to a horse race with this large and in charge hat!

Discovery

I confirmed to myself after this vacation a few things. 1) Me no likey awkward motion on boats or planes. (WOOF) 2) Pepe's Tacos is NOT the same in Cabo as it is in Puerto Vallarta. Don't waste your time. 3) 'Don't be lazy' should not be said to people laying by the pool who opt out of stupid water aerobics. (Mind you, if you're going to say this, it needs to be said with a slight Spanish accent. Otherwise, it just doesn't have the same affect. And for that matter, I was on vacation, and wouldn't budge an inch for water aerobics or anything else someone tried to pressure me to do) 4) The 'cold plunge' at a spa is for the truly courageous. That neither included me nor Beau. Thanks if I want cold water I can pour it out of my hose back home. 5) I have yet to discover why no one wears seatbelts in Mexico. HELLO! Have you seen them drive? It's terrible! 6) I am rarely in the mood to barter for garbage that could otherwise be purchased from All A Dollar back home. That said, I got a steal of a deal on some Christmas ornaments to add to our collection. 7) The phrase "Arrogant American" is truly deserved and I'm proud to hold that title. I have learned that being 'nice' will not help you to get rid of the time share hagglers that will follow you everywhere you go.

Oh... and last but not least, this is such an 'Awkward Family Photo' but totally going on the Christmas card. Yes, the bath tubs were "bigger than the Blue Banana"! and the entire family (well... almost) could fit in it at the same time. Creepy.
