Last weekend was a whirlwind. We have hated the paint in our new house and decided that we would tackle the main room before school starts this week for Beau. I never imagined that it would have been so tedious and time consuming, but I'm glad it's mostly done. Our walls are huge, and the whole concept of painting was overwhelming. We wanted to paint before moving in, but decided we didn't have the time. Anyway, here are the before and after pictures.
Before: Too much dark brown. It was everywhere.
Just a side note. The people who lived here before us did some 'interesting' things. Lucky for us, it was nothing that a little spackle and sand paper couldn't fix. They had hung a TON of pictures, and unfortunately they were rather large and not hung in places that could support the weight, so I got to try my hand at repairing walls, and it looks pretty good if I do say so myself.
It was about the time that we were finishing up the first wall that we realized that the ceiling was painted gray. Why would anyone paint the ceiling gray, you might ask... We're still wondering the same thing, but it doesn't surprise us since they painted the ceiling blue in the office.
After: So much better. Clean, open, bright, happy walls. (sorry for the dark light in some of the pictures)

Oh... and this was Surrey's contribution to painting.
Once we finish up with the touch ups, we'll move on to painting the ceiling, and then we should be set for this giant room. .....More to come.
